Intel Corporation has greed to purchase Infineon's Wireless Solutions Business, nicknamed WLS, for $1.4 Billion in a deal expected to close in 1Q2011.
Business at WLS will continue as before, and will operate as a standalone business unit.
When looked at in the context of Intel's recent acquisition of software security firm McAfee, it appears that Intel is seeking to diversify their technology portfolio.
