WALTHAM, Mass. (Sept. 16, 2003) - NetSilicon, Inc., a division of Digi International (NASDAQ: DGII) and a leading provider of network-attached embedded processors and device connectivity software, today announced the expansion of its ARM code-compatible product line with the introduction of the NS9750, the first in NetSilicon’s new family of ARM9-based NET+ARM® microprocessors. Based on the ARM 926EJ-S, ARM’s most powerful ARM 9 core, the NS9750 provides the highest level of performance and integration available for embedded device networking.
"The extension of our award-winning NET+ARM product line to include a powerful ARM9-based processor increases our ability to help customers quickly develop intelligent, networked devices," said Tim Counihan, vice president of marketing, NetSilicon. "“The NS9750’s extensive peripheral set and high-performance core processor make it an easy to integrate solution for commercial and industrial applications."
The NS9750 focuses on flexible connectivity solutions by integrating a broad set of industry-standard peripherals, such as PCI, USB (host or device), I²C, 1284, serial ports, GPIO, and a cost-effective LCD controller. Featuring DSP instructions, a Java byte code accelerator, and an MMU, the NS9750 is a high-performance 32-bit processor that operates at speeds up to 200MHz. It provides wire-speed, full duplex 10/100Base-T Ethernet, with more than enough additional processing performance and bandwidth to handle even the most sophisticated embedded applications.
The NS9750 expands the company's NET+ARM® family of 32-bit processors. Designed to network enable embedded electronic equipment, the NS9750 is supported by NetSilicon’s royalty-free NET+Works® software development tool suite and networking software. The integrated approach of the NET+Works development tool suite helps customers achieve dramatic time-to-market reductions, reduce product unit costs, save engineering resources and reduce design risk.
"The NS9750 processor, supported by our NET+Works 6.0 tools, will enable a whole new level of networked intelligent devices," said Bruce Berger, senior vice president and general manager of NetSilicon. "The NS9750, with its high degree of performance and integration, will enable device manufacturers to easily include both their application and device networking using this single processor, thereby reducing the overall cost of their networked devices. The product also extends our line of NET+ARM processors, providing our customers a wide range of solutions appropriate for nearly any embedded networking application."
